The Carpenter Frog (Rana virgatipes)[1] is a species of frog in the Ranidae family. It is endemic to the United States, and is known for having a mating call resembling the sound of two carpenters hammering nails, hence the name.
Its natural habitats are temperate forests, rivers, swamps, freshwater lakes, and freshwater marshes. It is threatened by habitat loss.
